Harris Corporation (News - Alert) (HRS), an international communications and information technology company, recently announced that it has received an $11 million order from the Ministry of Defense of a NATO country for the Falcon III Secure Personal Radio (SPR). According to the terms of the agreement, Harris will be providing the RF-7800S SPR to this nation’s armed forces.
The RF-7800S-TR personal radio is designed specifically to meet the unique demands of providing secure and reliable voice, data and situational awareness communication at soldier level. Optimized for maximum performance across the highly variable environments soldiers operate in, and enabling range extending networks, the RF-7800S-TR secure personal role radio provides continuous coverage in the 350 to 450 MHz frequency range and ensures reliable connectivity between squad members with command-level intelligence. The RF-7800S-TR secure personal role radio has already been adopted as the standardized personal radio platform for multiple soldier modernization programs around the world.
“This soldier system program provides important new communication capabilities at the soldier level. The Harris SPR provides the best performance and best overall solution for team-based communications, with maximum range and voice quality. The Harris SPR is a lightweight, secure soldier radio platform deployed to more than 50 nations,’’ said Brendan O’Connell, president, international business, Harris RF Communications. “This radio has rapidly grown to become the international standard for voice and data communications to the individual soldier.’’
In related news, Harris Corporation recently received a $10.8 million order from the U.S. Air Force for additional Falcon III multiband manpack tactical radios to provide enhanced capabilities for tactical communications. The order was received in the first quarter of Harris' 2013 fiscal year. The JTRS-Certified Falcon III AN/PRC-117G is the world's most widely fielded tactical wideband networking radio, delivering enhanced situational awareness by connecting warfighters to the Global Information (News - Alert) Grid.
