TraceSpan's GPON Xpert Provides Support for TR-069

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Recently, TraceSpan (News - Alert) introduced a new version of the GPON Xpert analyzer, which consists of embedded support for TR-069.

GPON Xpert from TraceSpan offers a comprehensive and accurate analysis of G-PON product performance, standard compliance and interoperability. Users get all these facilities without utilizing any G-PON chipset.

With its unique multi-layer probing feature, GPON Xpert offers a complete analysis of data in various forms, including MAC layer GTC Framing sub-layer, TC Adaptation sub-layer and OMCI Management.

TR-069 (Technical Report 069) is a DSL Forum technical specification. It provides the definition for an application layer protocol for remote management of end-user devices, and offers communication between CPE and ACS (News - Alert) as a bidirectional SOAP/HTTP-based protocol.

GPON Xpert's upper layer analysis module includes support for the TR-069. It will be offered as a free-of-charge upgrade to current GPON Xpert users who have the upper layer option, and these users should be under a maintenance contract.

It is also available to those who renew their maintenance.

“The growth in FTTx deployments along with the increasing number of TR-069-enabled devices has created a strong need for testing and troubleshooting these units," said Dr. Hanan Herzberg, TraceSpan founder and CEO. "We have responded to our customers' demands to address this need with the addition of TR-069 to our GPON Xpert analyzer. Supporting the GPON-fed TR-069-gateways expands GPON Xpert's capabilities to a new area and maintains its position as the leading multi-layer GPON testing tool in the market.”

Recently, the company unveiled Self-FEXT Cancellation (G.Vector) module for its VDSL Xpert analyzer. Also known as G.Vector, Self-FEXT Cancellation is standardized in the ITU-T G.993.5 recommendation. By cancelling far-end crosstalk (FEXT) among signals from pairs in a bundle, the G.Vector enables considerable rate enhancements of VDSL lines.
