INSIDE Secure has unveiled an all-inclusive ComboPulse protected near-field communication (NFC) system-in-package (SiP) solution. It is now very simple and economical to include NFC functionality into a wide assortment of mainstream consumer electronic products, like tablets, normal mobile phones, individual media players and other smart mobile devices, using the new drop-in, zero-tweaking offering.
ComboPulse comprises an INSIDE PicoPulse NFC frontend “booster” chip, an INSIDE VaultSEcure protected element with Java Card OS, an antenna and all inert components in a small DFN8 package. Compared to other conventional NFC solutions, it is now possible to include NFC card emulation and peer-to-peer functions to mobile products in much less time, eliminating the need for supplementary hardware, external antenna and tuning.

Mobile devices can advantageously use ComboPulse SiP’s NFC card emulation capability for being utilized as a contactless smart card for corresponding with standard contactless point-of-sale or POS and other terminals.
The mobile devices can therefore be used to buy certain items, authenticate tickets and coupons, collect loyalty points and carry out banking and other protected transactions.
The ComboPulse devices also offer peer-to-peer (P2P) mode operation, simplifying Bluetooth and Wi-Fi pairing between two consumer electronic devices. Content or information can be exchanged with any device compliant with NFC Forum (News - Alert) in a simplified manner, using P2P.
P2P can also be used to work together with an assortment of TVs, cameras, security systems and other home devices.
The ComboPulse SiP boasts a ground-breaking design and small footprint, and can therefore be placed in any optimized location in the handset for producing the finest user experience.
