Europe's premier satellite radio company, ONDAS Media S.A., has issued integration contracts to its technology partners Delphi, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Institute (FHG) in Germany and Certicom to begin integration activities of its satellite radio system in Nissan vehicles.
The contract is signed in addition to the one signed with two leading premium, high-volume car manufacturers in Europe.
The contract will enable ONDAS to broadcast its multi-lingual radio, music, video and data services directly to European consumers in their automobiles, trucks, homes, offices and to their mobile and portable devices through its satellite radio network. The company aims to provide digital entertainment to 240 million vehicles and up to 600 million European inhabitants through more than 150 channels of proprietary and re-distributed music, sports, news, weather, traffic and special interest programming in all the key European languages.
Under this contract, hardware provider Delphi and FHG will be monitoring the core RF and Waveform to ensure ONDAS Media's satellite radio and media system matches the detailed specifications from the OEMs for installation in production vehicles.
"Depending on the OEM's specific internal schedule, these contracts will assure ONDAS Media's delivery of factory-installed radios in millions of cars sold in Europe in the 2011 and 2012 time frame," confirms Christoph With, CFO of ONDAS Media. "This represents a significant growth in capital expenditure approved by our shareholders and reflects a major build-up of our execution plan.”
The company also announced that Dave Krueger has been promoted to the position of chief executive officer of ONDAS Media, replacing Jacinto Palacios. Palacios will remain at the company in a consulting capacity.

Krueger also mentioned that this investment in significant OEM integration contracts illustrates yet another milestone in ONDAS Media's progress towards launching pan-European subscription-based services in 2011.
