DataPath Gets Two Orders for Dual-Antenna DKET Satellite Hubs

By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributor

Satellite and wireless communications networks provider DataPath has received two orders from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and the U.S. Marine Corps respectively to manufacture and install dual-antenna DataPath (News - Alert) DKET satellite communications (SATCOM) hubs in support of in Southwest Asia. The two orders are worth $3.3 million.

A wide network of 75 DataPath DKETs has been deployed by the U.S. military since 1998. These DKETs, each a highly transportable and self-contained earth terminal, act as communications hubs providing voice, video and data connectivity on the battlefield. Powered by the MaxView network management software, the DKET systems are supported by DataPath's experienced field services personnel.
The present order requires DataPath to deliver two dual-antenna DKETs. One of these will operate in Ka band to utilize the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) system.
"DataPath DKETs are a critical element of the Department of Defense's SATCOM backbone in Southwest Asia," said Steve Lindeman, vice president of Business Operations at DataPath. "We are working closely with the military to ensure that the next generation of earth terminals is configured for use with the WGS constellation, which provides critical space segment availability and increased bandwidth throughput in support of operational requirements."
The orders were awarded by the Program Manager WIN-T's Commercial SATCOM Terminal Program (CSTP) through the CSTP Blanket Purchase Agreement contract at the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth, N.J.
DataPath specializes in enabling highly complex, video-intensive communications networks that are critical to the operations of military, civilian government and commercial organizations. DataPath’s communications solutions function even in the most urgent time frames and extreme conditions. Recently TMCnet reported that the U.S. Army has awarded DataPath a two delivery orders worth $4.8 million. The orders are for spare electronics and other equipment used to operate and maintain hundreds of DataPath Satellite Transportable Terminals (STTs).
