IDirect Government Technologies, a provider of connectivity solutions between the Department of Defense and civilian government agencies, reportedly announced that it had successfully completed the military exercise conducted by the U.S. Joint User Interoperability Communications Exercise or “JUICE” in June at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey and in several other U.S. military locations around the world.

The company had to illustrate the features of multiple military grade satellite communications technologies; iDirect’s (News - Alert) toughened 12200 Series Universal Industrial 4-Slots Satellite Hub, iConnex e850mp compact satellite router board and Global Network Management System were some of the technologies included in the purview of the test. With the resounding success received by iGT in these military exercises, it has been proven that iGT is adequately equipped to provide the U.S. military with dependable connectivity solutions that deliver high speed voice, video and data applications.

The JUICE exercise is an annual affair and this time it laid special emphasis on upcoming trends in military communications technologies in a Joint Task Force environment.

One of the critical tests conducted involved the capability of video conferencing in ground vehicles at 65 mph. An iGT Communications on the Move vehicle carried on a live videoconference with the testing location and a Joint Task Force Forward Operating Base. The network was found to successfully maintain connectivity under all parameters of time and distance. With this, the firm showed how soldiers on the field could dependably execute voice, video and data applications in moving ground vehicles.

Another test analyzed the extent to which the company could provide broadband functionalities to specific on-field soldiers. In this test, a ground task force put together iDirect’s compact e850mp satellite router board and a portable L-3 Panther terminal so that it allowed mobile X-band connectivity. It also embedded multiple hubs in this arrangement so that military personnel could complete the simulation exercise laid out while being mobile. This test showed a fresh standard of high-speed broadband for specific soldiers through a movable and discreet satellite router that could easily be carried around in a soldier’s backpack.

A third test measured the company’s capability to maintain broadband continuity during crises. A disaster situation which dismantled the Fort Monmouth network infrastructure was simulated for this. iDirect’s Global Network Management System seamlessly moved the system and ensured continuous connectivity without manual intervention. IDirect remote routers fell back on a secondary iDirect hub in Virginia as soon as the primary network failed. Thus, iDirect’s capability in maintaining continuous communication without compromising on bandwidth availability was fully illustrated.
