Sonus SBC 5000 Series Certified in Microsoft UC Open Interoperability Program for Lync Serve 2010
Sonus Networks (News - Alert), a provider of solutions for SIP communications, asserted that its Sonus SBC 5000 series of session border controllers successfully completed and passed the Microsoft Corp's Unified Communications (News - Alert) Open Interoperability Program for Lync Server 2010.
The new SBCs Sonus SBC 5100 and Sonus SBC 5200 are capable of enabling seamless transition to SIP trunking and are certified to work flawlessly with Microsoft’s (News - Alert) unified communications solutions. The certification supposedly grants service provider, enterprise customers and resellers a bit more confidence in Sonus SBC 5000 series products interoperating with Lync Server 2010, and the ability to enjoy the advantages of SIP-based applications in a seamless manner as they deploy Microsoft Lync.
“The Sonus SBC 5000 series provides a great option for combining Microsoft Lync into a legacy IP telephony infrastructure and activating the full suite of Microsoft Lync voice communications capabilities,” said Ashima Singhal, Lync Group product manager at Microsoft Corp. “In particular, Sonus’ strengths in interworking allow enterprises to take advantage of their legacy voice applications infrastructure and use SBCs to enable a smooth migration to SIP trunking and help create a truly unified communications network centered on Microsoft Lync.”
Sonus explained that the new Sonus SBC 5100, purpose-built to leverage SIP-based networks as enterprises and tier-two and -three service providers look to simplify their infrastructure and deploy video and Unified Communications features, comes with software that is consistent across the complete Sonus SBC 5000 family of products.
While the Sonus SBC 5200 is specifically designed for high-capacity environments demanded by tier-one service providers and Fortune 500 companies, it supports 64,000 sessions on a single server – more than twice the capacity of similar products from other SBC competitors.
The features built into these new SBCs should propel enterprise networks to perform efficiently so businesses can communicate smarter, faster and more collaboratively than ever before.
