Voice-over-IP (VoIP) service providers often have to deploy and maintain enterprise environments where numerous IP phone devices from a number of manufacturers are being used. This leaves the service providers without a standard interface to work on, which makes the maintenance troublesome and expensive.
Looking to solve this problem, Edgewater Networks (News - Alert) has announced the integration of its Voice-over-IP (VoIP) monitoring and installation solution, EdgeView, with Metaswitch's MetaView solution.
The merging of these two products allow VoIP service providers to have a better look at the performance of the network along with other unique benefits such as scalable provisioning.
Working with Metaswitch's Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP) solution, Edgewater's EdgeView solution facilitates the deployment of SIP-based IP phones and the best part is, it supports a huge range of phones. To install this, users can just plug a phone into a network provided by Edgewater's EdgeMarc ESBCs and then instructions that come through voice prompts users to deploy the service.
“Today's service providers are challenged by the complexities of provisioning VoIP services due to the lack of a consistent, programmable interface across different IP phone devices and manufacturers," said Dave Norman, CEO of Edgewater Networks, Inc. "As a result, VoIP services installations are often labor intensive, error-prone and expensive. Edgewater and Metaswitch have teamed up to ensure that service providers can now offer their enterprise customers a broad range of choice without compromising the quality of the service experience.”
In 2007, the company reached out to enhance its Wide Area Network (WAN) link redundancy footprints with the expansion of EdgeMarc VoIP survivability feature range.
