TXU Energy announced that it has deployed Acme Packet (News - Alert) solutions to deliver more secure and reliable Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) based contact center services.
The switch over to the new Acme Packet enterprise session border controller will a have drastic benefit for both TXU and the customers. The switch from the conventional public switch telephone network over to the Acme Packet will reduce telecommunications expenses, as well as improve the business agility for its contact centers. The Acme Packet is able to simplify the migration to an all IP infrastructure, reducing the telecommunications costs.
"Acme Packet solutions help us realize all the cost savings and operational benefits of an all-IP contact center without sacrificing security or service availability," said Tony Jurica, Sr. Manager IT Operations, TXU Energy. "By migrating to SIP, we were able to improve business agility while reducing equipment and operating expenses."
This Acme Packet will allow the Texas based Energy Company to consolidate their operations into two geographically distributed main contact centers. TXU will now be better suited for business continuity and disaster recovery.
Along with the reduction in expenses, the Enterprise session director will protect and control SIP trunking borders. Instead of having to utilize several different trunk service providers, this move will enable TXU to utilize just two to ensure more availability and optimize costs.
"Innovative companies like TXU are implementing SIP trunks and services to increase flexibility and contain costs," said Tim Ziemer, vice president of North America and Asia Pacific Japan sales, at Acme Packet
The switch will benefit the customers by providing them with a more secure and reliable connection to their SIP trunk providers. It also reduces both capital and operational expenditure. With growth in business demands, customers will be able to expand capacity at a quicker and more efficient.
