As snow barrels down on the New England area, those of us who are affected are ready to settle down on our couches with a cup of hot cocoa and plenty of news to read. And for anyone who follows the session border controller space, it’s been a week full of interesting stories. Here are some of the highlights from the past week.

First came a report from session border controller expert Sonus Networks (News - Alert), detailing how enterprises are increasingly migrating toward unified communication deployments. The report titled, “Enterprises Place 2013 Unified Communications (News - Alert) Bets: How Many Horses in This Race?” shows that UC is gaining significant traction in the enterprise market, driven in large part by the popularity of Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync.

“This latest Webtorials report provides great insight into the state of the enterprise unified communications market, outlining the opportunities and challenges that companies face as they implement technologies that can help dramatically increase employee productivity and customer satisfaction,” said Wes Durow (News - Alert) , vice president of Global Marketing and Go-to-Market Operations at Sonus.

Sonus was also in the news this week for its partnership with BroadSoft (News - Alert). The two companies have joined together to ensure full interoperability of their products and solutions.

“BroadSoft is a well-established leader in helping service providers create and monetize new services and capabilities,” said Ray Dolan, president and CEO of Sonus. “Together, Sonus and BroadSoft products offer a pathway for service providers to leverage their investments as they seek to add new features and capabilities in a manner that is easy to use, simple to manage and affordable to deploy.”

There you have it! It’s been a very interesting week in the session border controller space. Check back with TMCnet soon for more of the latest news and developments!
