BroadSoft's Product Offerings Interoperable with Sonus' SBCs
By Mini Swamy
In a bid to accelerate the deployment of hosted, cloud-based, communication services, service providers are looking for reliable and integrated solutions that deliver cost savings and new revenue opportunities through cloud-based unified communications (UC).
This is being made possible through a partnership between BroadSoft, Inc. and Sonus Networks (News - Alert), both of which share a commitment to provide customers with seamlessly integrated network components, noted officials.
BroadSoft’s BroadWorks, BroadCloud and BroadTouch product offerings are thus expected to be fully interoperable with the Sonus line of session border controllers.
According to Michael Tessler, president and CEO at BroadSoft (News - Alert), the two companies can provide simplified network designs and a broad range of fully integrated, tested and secure unified communications, SIP trunking and interworking network components.
“Together, Sonus and BroadSoft products offer a pathway for service providers to leverage their investments as they seek to add new features and capabilities in a manner that is easy to use, simple to manage and affordable to deploy,” observed Ray Dolan, president and CEO at Sonus.
The alliance is also expected to help both companies jointly serve customers by coordinating sales and go-to-market activities, testing and documentation. Sonus and BroadSoft are currently working together in test labs and customer engagements.
A February 2013 survey found that the percentage of premises-based unified communication deployments is likely to decrease as future deployment migrate to the cloud, and another study indicated that this market is projected to grow and reach $22 billion by 2018.
Given those figures, the current partnership between BroadSoft and Sonus Networks augurs well for customers and the market. BroadSoft is well known for helping service providers create and monetize new services and capabilities, and Sonus Networks is a global company with 15 years of experience transforming networks to IP.
SPIRIT DSP (News - Alert), the world's number-one voice and video over IP engines provider serving more than one billion users in 100+ countries, announced that BroadSoft, the global provider of software and services that enables mobile, fixed-line and cable service providers to deliver UC and other voice and multimedia services over their IP- based networks, has licensed TeamSpirit Voice &Video Engine Mobile and PC to provide HD-quality voice and video calls in its BroadTouch user application.
