Avaya (News - Alert) has unveiled the latest release of Avaya Session Border Controller for Enterprise (SBCE). An increasing number of distributed businesses presently have employees across the world, and are working remotely either from home or while on the go.

To safeguard distributed businesses, the latest release features a set of security improvements for enterprise association.

Protected Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) or SIP-based applications are now offered by Avaya SBCE across networks. Organizations will therefore be able to administer Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) approaches, wherein employees utilize the same device for both work and personal use.

In a statement, Gary E. Barnett, SVP and GM, Collaboration Platforms, Avaya, said, "Advancements in enterprise collaboration are taking off, and with an Avaya Aura platform in place, businesses can accelerate their own collaboration evolution with speed and simplicity. But with threats to networks on the rise, the need to take action on security is essential. The Avaya SBCE brings the rock-solid security needed to ensure business collaboration and mobility initiatives are strengthened and protected against those with malicious intent."

The Avaya SBCE will provide improved protection for mobile association via its latest Avaya SBCE compatibility with the Avaya Flare Experience on Apple iPad devices, and with Avaya one-X Mobile applications for the iPhone (News - Alert).

Employees will be provided secure access to mobile unified communications (UC) capabilities, as Avaya SBCE will safeguard wireless UC over public data networks.

As Avaya SBCE does not require a virtual private network (VPN), employees can easily avail valuable UC functionality from a remote location. Organizations can also leverage the advantages of SIP with improved security, as Avaya SBCE facilitates the use of protected SIP trunking and SIP-based remote worker applications.

Richard Blake, Manager of IT Telecom at Teleperformance (News - Alert), said, "Customer service is at the heart of what we do, and as a leader in outsourced contact center services, our clients count on us to ensure superior functions and secure service. The Avaya SBCE delivers this, and does so with an eye towards cost-savings. We can reduce our hardware expenses, simplify implementations, and use fewer resources, saving us time and money. Avaya SBCE is critical in helping protect our network, while delivering the cost-saving benefits of SIP trunking."
