Not long ago, Citel received regulatory approval to upgrade the hardware that runs its Portico solution. Now, the company will be exhibiting that solution at ITEXPO later this month. Citel has long been known one of the top VoIP migration companies in the world. The Portico TVA is the company’s flagship offering when it comes to dealing with VoIP migration. The company will be working in tandem with Broad-Connect Telecom. At ITEXPO, the two companies will demonstrate Citel’s media gateway and SIP handsets, which are geared to work with Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync.
Microsoft Lync was developed, in part, so users could utilize soft phones to communicate over Internet Protocol. Many people prefer to have physical handsets on their desktops, but they often have many questions and concerns about IP telephony migration. The system that was developed by Broad-Connect allows for a company’s legacy handsets and systems to be migrated to Microsoft Lync.
“There has been a great deal of interest at Citel in having the Portico™ TVA™ work with Microsoft Lync; however, due to compatibility issues, that was always a concern,” said Ian Gomm, VP, Sales & Marketing at Citel in a recent release that announced the application would be appearing at the ITEXPO (News - Alert). “However, Broad-Connect developed a server system that bridged the compatibility issue and we are looking forward to working with them to bring this joint solution to market.”
