In case you thought Panasonic was out of tricks for the rest of 2012 - with its already nabbing several accolades and releasing the industry's first SIP open source-based operating system desk phone - think again. In just a few weeks, Panasonic will announce the availability of its UT248 SIP phone, a dynamic, executive level SIP phone.

One of the joys I have is my role as moderator of various webinars. While there are many reasons, including finding out what is on the minds of attendees, the main one is the opportunity to gain new knowledge about industry trends and insights from those on the front lines of their markets. The SIP Forum has elected Vijey Jenkal, director of Product Development Engineering at Comcast Cable, to the SIP Forum Board of Directors. The Forum also re-elected Chairman Richard Shockey and Dr. Alan Johnston, distinguished engineer in Avaya's Applications and Emerging Technology division, to new terms on the SIP Forum Board of Directors.

Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. announced its IPedge IP business telephone system is certified with the AT&T IP Flexible Reach SIP Trunking offering. Toshiba IPedge systems are software-centric Unified Communications platforms designed for organizations who want an all-IP network infrastructure so it can save money by managing a single network.

SIP phones provider Panasonic certainly seems to be on a hot streak as of late, as the company is nabbing awards from various different organizations at a rapid fire pace. From taking home the Product of the Year Award in the INTERNET TELEPHONY Magazine for its KX-UT670 Smart Desk Phone to most recently being named a 2012 Today's Facility Magazine (TFM) Readers' Choice Award winner in the office technology/equipment category, 2012 has been nothing short of successful for the SIP End points company.
