VTech Enters Hospitality Sector with SIP Phones Deployment in Caesars Palace

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

VTech, a leading provider of cordless phones, announced it has successfully completed the installation of its Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP) phone systems in the new Octavius Tower at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

This deployment marks the SIP phones provider’s expansion into hospitality industry.

SIP phones are gaining popularity because they use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology so users can enjoy cost-effective international costs. SIP phones also include several features that enhance the calling experience of users. The hospitality industry benefits from this service as it helps them add more convenience and luxury to their guests without spending on huge telephony infrastructure and heavy monthly bills.

VTech has installed S2420 2-line SIP cordless phones in more than 660 bedrooms of guestrooms in Octavius Tower, and S2320 SIP TrimStyle phones with tethered handsets in the bathrooms. VTech is also installing analog models in other towers of Caesars Palace. The phones were installed on a Nortel (News - Alert) CS1000 PBX system. VTech SIP phones are also compatible with PBX systems from other leading providers.

"We are proud to be partnering with Caesars Palace during its expansion of one of Las Vegas' most iconic hotels. Hospitality is one of our strategic areas of focus and we expect it will be one of our growth drivers," said Allan Wong, chairman and Group CEO of VTech Holdings, in a statement.

"Our strong R&D capability and economies of scale have always enabled us to introduce innovative, feature-rich products that are competitively priced,” Wong added. “We are now leveraging this expertise to benefit our customers in the hospitality industry and their guests."

VTech is aggressively pursuing the opportunity in the hospitality sector for its SIP phones. The company is also shipping its phones to major hotel brands such as Hilton, Hyatt and Mandarin Oriental in different parts of the world including the US, Europe and Asia.

In other industry news, Panasonic –a leading provider of SIP phones – recently celebrated some exciting news when it received word that three of its Panasonic SIP Cordless Phone (News - Alert) products – the KX-TGP550, KX-UT123 and KX-UT136 – have been certified by Epygi Technologies interoperable with the Epygi Quadro IP PBX. The alliance relies on Panasonic’s global leadership in the DECT (News - Alert) cordless telephone market with Epygi’s enterprise PBX, according to company officials.

“When we first heard that Panasonic was launching SIP telephone solutions, the Epygi (News - Alert) team was eager to further develop our relationship with the company,” said Warren Sonnen, director of product management, Epygi Technologies.  “With Panasonic’s extensive experience in the business telephone market, we knew these phones would be a great addition to our IP phone partner program.”
