Sify (News - Alert) Technologies, an India-based provider of converged ICT services, in partnership with Vidyo, a company that delivers personal telepresence and boasts SIP interoperability, announced the launch of a new generation of Video Conferencing-as-a-Service for Enterprises and Emerging Businesses.

Dubbed as Sify videomeet, the new service allows users to conduct high-definition (HD), multi-point video collaboration beyond conventional conference rooms and without the need of dedicated networks. The service can be made available on multiple devices – mobile phone (iPhone (News - Alert)/Android), tablets (iPads/Android), laptops (Windows/Mac/Linux), desktops (Windows/Mac/Linux), dedicated room systems, real telepresence systems.

The ability of the service to offer a telepresence-quality experience to users on the move on any device allows users to enjoy video conferencing without a conference room. The service is also marked by its seamless adaptability to network vagaries. It is not confined to a dedicated network. Further the solution also works on all prevailing operating systems.

"Sify videomeet, the Video Conferencing-as-a-Service is a rich addition to our converged ICT services portfolio bringing competitive advantage to our customer's business,” said Daniel Alex, senior vice president of network services, Sify technologies, in a statement. “Built on the strength of our industry-leading Network Services, with Vidyo's (News - Alert) innovative technology, this new-generation service will empower enterprises of all sizes to collaborate cost-effectively and in a secure manner.”

Sify Video Conferencing-as-a-Service does not require any new capital investment. Enterprises that have legacy video conferencing infrastructure can seamlessly use the service to empower their remote locations with this enterprise grade HD quality collaboration tool. It enables enterprise-class HD video conferencing without any capital investment and empowers them with a powerful and affordable video collaboration tool.

The service also eliminates the need for a Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) or any other video conferencing device at the premises of the customer, thereby reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Customers can get unlimited video conferencing by paying a fixed rental, or they can avail the ‘pay-per-use’ option.

"With the growing penetration of smartphones, laptops and tablets in the region, Vidyo's software-based approach to videoconferencing on multiple devices over non-dedicated networks is the ideal solution for the market in India,” said Ashish Gupta (News - Alert), CMO & SVP of Corporate Development, Vidyo, in a statement.

“Vidyo's Adaptive Video Layering collaboration platform is perfectly suited for emerging markets like India, offering low latency, natural, affordable, high-quality video that works over an Internet connection, whether wired or wireless including WiFi (News - Alert) and 4G,” Gupta added.

In a recent development Vidyo announced it has achieved the Joint Interoperability Test Command’s (JITC) certification from Department of Defense (DoD) for its Vidyo Conferencing suite. With JITC certification, Vidyo becomes the first software-based, telepresence-quality (720p30) desktop video conferencing solution to be JITC certified, the company said.
