Acme Packet Joins IPC in Expanding Unigy Trading Solutions

By Nick Ruble, TMCnet Contributing Writer

In light of IPC Systems’ (News - Alert) interest in expanding its Unigy platform across the enterprise, the electronic communications company has joinedhandswithAcmePacket in attempt to make that vision possible.

The plan is to roll out a super-compatible, platform-agnostic client so potential users can opt for Unigy, regardless of which OS or device they might be using. Acme’s role will be to revamp IPC’s SIP-based Unified Trading Communications platform, thus making the cross-platform compatibility possible.

Dino Di Palma of Acme Packet (News - Alert) sheds a little more light on the new partnership, stating, "IPC's Unigy is a revolutionary platform for today's trading floor, helping to extend critical communications across all offices and systems within the enterprise. Our application enablement technology enables customers to centralize the infrastructure and management resources, putting ITmanagers in control of complex communications and applications architectures."

Since Unigy is designed to boost productivity and workflow in the unified trading industry, it only makes sense that it should be easily stretched across the entire enterprise. Regardless of how great a program it is, the platform can’t very well boost workflow if it’s impossible to run on the company’s hardware of choice.

Unigyistrulyoneofakind when it comes to Software Oriented Architecture (SOA) communications platforms - its combined integration of collaboration tools, exclusive apps, session management and system management tools, all wrapped up in a single cost-effective package were an industry first.

Mark Miller, Vice president of product management at IPC, announced, "Combining Acme Packet's solution and the power of Unigy allows us to provide customers with a unique enterprise-wide solution that can help improve efficiency and reduce costs.”

He continued to explain how, through extending Unigy-based apps to traditional telephony solutions, users now have more control than ever over the platform - easy access to communications settings and info means less hassle and improved workflow for customers.
