This week in SIP phone news, it was revealed that 4PSA, a software company building social unified communications (UC), automation and infrastructure management software platforms for the cloud, had showcased its latest UC solution this week at ITEXPO (News - Alert) Austin 2012, the world’s largest technology and communications event.
The solution – VoipNow3 Service Provider Edition – was designed for highly demanding service provider environments. With built-in automation, this solution implements a new service architecture that can be easily managed in VoipNow’s cloud management Web interface. This new solution also brings together all communication flows for simplified work and increased productivity. Furthermore, service providers can use this new software on their infrastructure or use Cloud OnDemand to utilize the company’s cloud services. By offering powerful Web, desktop and mobile apps as well as Amazon S3 storage space, VoipNow 3 enables users to offload infrastructure from storing the highly demanding resources, such as recordings, voicemails and faxes.
In other news this week, Skullcandy, a popular maker of headphones, earphones and hands-free devices, revealed that it’s turning to Level 3’s SIP solutions for improved network efficiency. By relying on Level 3, Skullcandy will be able to improve communication among its core business locations of North America and China. Additionally, Level 3 will offer Skullcandy a global IP virtual private network (VPN), as well as enterprise-class metro and wide-area network services over a private, dedicated Multi-Protocol Label Switching infrastructure.
