TMCnet SIP Phones Week in Review

By Allison Boccamazzo, Content Producer

SIP phones serve as a more flexible, expandable and reliable way to deploy users’ SIP-based telephony. The benefits of SIP are plenty, and are especially compelling in today’s business environment – and economy – where every dollar holds its value. A SIP phone system is a perfect and simple solution for small businesses or even larger SIP endpoint deployments.

This week in SIP phone news, Panasonic (News - Alert) UK & Ireland (PUK) revealed its plans to strengthen its business operations by investing to further improve its 2013 facility, training, feedback and initiatives. Lined up for the company next year will be new developments to training facilities for the ERP compliant split, the GHP heat recovery system, the High Temp 65degC ASW Monobloc and the Heat Recovery VRF. Furthermore, available courses for next year, which have been scheduled to begin March 2013, involve Air-to-Water Products & Design, Air-to-Water Technical Splits (PACi), VRF 1 or 2 and GHP 1 or 2 and servicing.

Marc Diaz, country manager of Panasonic UK & Ireland, says, “As manufacturers, we recognize the importance of investing in specialized training facilities for our products. Nowadays, it isn't enough to manufacture the technology. It is up to us to ensure that our products are installed and operated correctly for optimum performance and efficiency.”

In other news, Panasonic also unveiled its new reseller program to offer its partner a distinct competitive advantage. "Built to support our sales strategy, our new Authorized Reseller Program will offer participating resellers potential access to all Panasonic B2B technologies, under a consistent set of terms and conditions," explained Bill Brennan, senior director, channel sales - resellers, Panasonic System Communications Company in a statement.

“The new program will offer our partners greater program consistency, access to new solutions, and more in-house channel resources. These core program elements will give our partners what they need to grow their business and equip their customers with a technology solution for nearly any application,” he added.

Wrapping up this week is news revolving around a new whitepaper released by Infonetics (News - Alert) Research titled, “Routers on the IP Edge: Overcoming the Triple Challenge of Video, Mobile, and Cloud,” which essentially reveals that IP edge routers help carriers overcome the triple challenge of video, mobility and the cloud. The whitepaper further examines how the latest advances in edge routing technology are helping carriers meet the demands of growing video traffic, surging mobile backhaul traffic and cloud services at the IP edge.

Michael Howard (News - Alert), the author of the whitepaper, explains, “The Internet changed everything forever, and it certainly changed service provider networks.” As service providers migrate from Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) to Internet Protocol (IP) and as carriers are nearing completion of their IP packet networks, they face various challenges encompassing video, mobility and cloud that are unfortunately overwhelming their networks.

That’s going to do it this week here for the SIP Phones Community. To see the latest in the SIP Phone (News - Alert) industry next week, be sure to check back same time, same place – only here at TMCnet!
