Hybrid unified communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) solutions are slowly but surely emerging in today’s phone market, and as they do, continue to evolve session initiation protocol (SIP)-based forms of communication. Karil Reibold (News - Alert) perfectly puts it when explaining that hybrid cloud unified communications integrates cloud-based UC functionality with an on-premise device that support advanced telephony capabilities found in on-premise solutions. The biggest example of this can be found in SIP devices such as IP-based phones.
Seeing how UCaaS on its own oftentimes lacks the reliability as well as the robust enterprise features that companies need to achieve on-premise solution success, hybrid solutions are stealing the spotlight, as they essentially let organizations have their cake and eat it too – the best of both worlds.
Consider The Dali Museum, a Florida-based museum featuring one of the largest private comprehensive collections outside of Europe by artist Salvador Dali. The organization selected a solution from a hybrid UCaaS vendor for a combined solution of voice and data service running over the partner’s fiber network. “The hybrid UC solution’s service point is able to terminate SIP without any additional SIP to TDM conversion equipment, further lowering TCO (total cost of ownership).”
The hybrid UCaaS model notably achieves three different things:
- Helps channel partners easily transition from an on-premise PBX (News - Alert) reseller to reselling UCaaS with a recurring revenue model: “Typically, a channel partner would earn an activation fee and a recurring monthly revenue stream through the life of the contract,” Reibold says. “This new model gives channel partners the stability of an ongoing predictable revenue stream as well as the opportunity to bundle network services for a complete turnkey solution.”
- Increased Reliability: Hybrid UCaaS solutions eliminate those in-and-out call quality issues as well as avoids the need for IT to diagnose the problem, thus significantly increasing call quality of service (QoS).
- Increase Profitability: “Business communications are the life blood of any SMB,” Reibold says. By implementing a hybrid UCaaS solution, you can save as much as $20,000 a day that you could statistically lose when your system goes down using more unreliable methods.
Hybrid UCaaS would play nicely, for instance, with Panasonic’s (News - Alert) KX-TGP551T04 SIP IP Expandable Cordless Phone System, a multi-line phone system sold with monthly service – all provided by Panasonic for an affordable, easy to set-up phone communications solution.
