TMCnet SIP Phones Week in Review

By Allison Boccamazzo, Content Producer

SIP phones serve as a more flexible, expandable and reliable way to deploy users’ SIP-based telephony. The benefits of SIP are plenty, and are especially compelling in today’s business environment – and economy – where every dollar holds its value. A SIP phone system is a perfect and simple solution for small businesses or even larger SIP endpoint deployments.

Starting out this week is news software development company Xnet’s new SIP-base phone specifically designed for the Apple (News - Alert) iPad – called iSoftPhone. Now available at the App Store, the iSoftPhone (News - Alert) boasts many impressive features, such as easy integration with local contacts, chat messaging, SMS, call display, call history, voicemail, DND and multiple language settings, including French, German, Polish and Spanish.

Elaborating on this newest enhancement, the company stated on its website, “To further our goal of building an application which aids productivity, we have introduced the Call Panel which provides quick access to functionality to manage...the telephony call such as AEC, Call Recording/Transfer and more.”

Also this week, a new study released by tech blog DigitalOlympus.com revealed that businesses who utilize VoIP phones, networks and unified communications (UC) services can enjoy drastic cost savings compared to those who don’t, as well as prepare them for work and growth in the technologically advancing years to come.

“Growing businesses need to save costs. Also a big priority for them is boosting efficiency, power and productivity. This can be achieved on the telecoms side by switching to VoIP and adopting a unified communications infrastructure. Unified communications blends voice, data, SMS, IM, video and other platforms together on the same network to save costs and boost efficiency, while VoIP provides the backbone to support your UC infrastructure,” a study collaborator explained in a statement.

Wrapping up this week is some ever-helpful information on how to choose the perfect SIP phone solution for a small- to medium-sized business this year, where Panasonic (News - Alert) remains a market leader. The most important benefit of SIP phones is found in its cost-efficiency when compared to more complex and unnecessarily expensive alternatives, and Panasonic’s solutions are specifically geared toward small- and medium-sized businesses, which the company has proudly found a spot as seen in the expansion of its award-winning SIP phone line for the SMB.

That’s going to do it this week here for the SIP Phones Community. To see the latest in the SIP Phone (News - Alert) space next week, be sure to check back same time, same place – only here at TMCnet!
