TMCnet SIP Phones Week in Review

By Allison Boccamazzo, Content Producer

SIP phones serve as a more flexible, expandable and reliable way to deploy users’ SIP-based telephony. The benefits of SIP are plenty, and are especially compelling in today’s business environment – and economy – where every dollar holds its value. A SIP phone system is a perfect and simple solution for small businesses or even larger SIP endpoint deployments.

This week, Panasonic (News - Alert) divulged in a company blog some news about the L.A. County Arboretum, which implemented the company’s KX-TDE200 system. This system comes fully equipped with a converged IP-PBX (News - Alert) system that supports up to 256 total extensions and 128 CO lines, as well as the KX-TV1200 voice processing system with 12 ports. Datafone Communications, a full service communications service provider who helped install the Panasonic system, also installed a series of Panasonic digital telephones, including the KX-DT343, KX-DT333 and the KX-DT321, totaling to 44 extensions through the site’s six building facility.

Also this week, at ITEXPO Miami 2013, which is wrapping up today in Miami, Fla., Allworx, a Windstream (News - Alert) company, revealed its newest SIP mobile phone – Reach – as well as its new System Software 7.5 – both of which were showcased at Windstream’s exhibition booth at the show.

“The Allworx Reach and System Software 7.5 will fundamentally change the way our customers use their Allworx systems," said Chris Hasenauer, vice president and general manager of Allworx, an award-winning developer of IP phones and phone systems for businesses, in a statement. "Our customers are looking for innovative solutions for unifying their communications activities across multiple platforms, and they want those solutions delivered in a cost effective manner. The products we are announcing today meet those goals and will offer our customers a clear competitive advantage."

And rounding out the week is news of Telchemy (News - Alert), a voice and video over IP monitoring and management provider, who was selected to service Internet2’s SIP Voice Services with its sQmediator VoIP Performance Management solution, an advanced performance management system that enables service providers and enterprises to monitor VoIP and IP video conferencing in real-time  for faster problem detection for optimum QoS.
