Tatara Systems to Demonstrate Comprehensive Femtocell Ecosystem For Consumer and Enterprise Markets
ACTON, Mass. --(Business Wire)--
Tatara Systems (News - Alert), the leader in SIP-based femtocell convergence, today announced that they will be demonstrating a range of innovative enterprise focused features in a display built with the collaboration of several leading industry partners in Tatara's booth (#3066) at the International CTIA WIRELESS 2010® event, March 23-25 in Las Vegas, NV. The Tatara Convergence (News - Alert) Server, a robust software platform being deployed for consumer femtocell service in a Tier 1 carrier network today, creates the foundation for this demonstration of solutions, designed for both enterprise and consumer markets, delivered via both CDMA and UMTS femtocell access points from multiple vendors.
In the demonstration, the Tatara Convergence Server - Enterprise Femtocell Edition will enable IP-PBX (News - Alert) integration to enhance mobility and productivity of users when connected to an enterprise femtocell. Capabilities being demonstrated include abbreviated dialing, simultaneous ringing of mobile and desk phones and the ability to transfer calls between the mobile and desk phones. The Tatara Systems ecosystem will demonstrate a variety of FemtoZone services, including; "Automatic Employee Presence Notification", "Wireless Memo/Sticky Notes" and "Automatic Status Update on Social Networking".
This announcement comes at a time when the femtocell market is experiencing a significant amount of renewed interest and overall growth. In February 2010, Informa Telecoms and Media, an industry analyst firm, reported that operator commitments to femtocell deployments grew 50% in last three months. Many analysts also recognize the high value but largely untapped opportunity of femtocells within the enterprise market. Initially viewed as a solution to primarily solve the 3G in-building voice coverage issue, the industry now acknowledges its potential for addressing data coverage and capacity challenges, creating additional revenue streams with IP-PBX integration to deliver a robust FMC service portfolio and the opportunity to capture large amounts of high ARPU subscribers since, unlike "generic" Wi-Fi, an enterprise femtocell service requires a commitment to a specific operator.
"The cost-effective deployment of advanced business-oriented features as enabled by the Tatara Convergence Server is vital to maximizing the enterprise potential in the dynamic UMTS and CDMA market. As the leading Prime Integrator for fixed-mobile convergence solutions in North America, Ericsson (News - Alert) is working with innovative companies of all sizes, including Tatara Systems, to deliver unique services that maximize the operator's return on investment," said Arun Bhikshesvaran, Senior VP, Multimedia and Infrastructure Solutions, Ericsson North America.
"Tatara Systems is proud to be working together with such an extensive ecosystem of technology partners and system integrators who have collaborated to make SIP-based femtocell convergence a reality," stated E.Y. Snowden, president and CEO of Tatara Systems. "As an early leader in bridging IP communications with legacy mobile networks, Tatara has demonstrated that SIP-based femtocell convergence is the only proven solution available today that provides operators with the coverage and capacity benefits of femtocells together with the full mobile core offload and enhanced application revenue enabled by a SIP-based architecture."
Tatara Systems will also be showcased in the Femto Forum's FemtoZone (Booth 3762) at the International CTIA WIRELESS 2010® event. The FemtoZone features companies on the cutting edge of femtocell development discussing key issues and offering an insight into the future of the transformational technology. On Tuesday, 03/23/10 at 1:30pm, Tatara Systems' Vice President of Engineering & Solution Architecture, Eric Bomarsi, will present "The Benefits of SIP-based Femtocell (News - Alert) Architectures" within the FemtoZone's presentation area.
