Armstrong Cable, one of North America’s oldest independent cable providers, is undertaking a significant network migration project that includes implementing Sonus Network’s Class 4 VoIP Core.
Sonus Network will provide the right kind of platform to help Armstrong build an SIP core for its telecom network. The integrated solution will take advantage of IP trunking and session border control capabilities to enable VoIP Peering (News - Alert). Armstrong aims to develop a long-term strategy for smooth migration of their telephony network to IMS and PacketCable 2.0 by leveraging the new SIP core.
As part of the strategic deployment to aid migration, Sonus Class 4 VoIP network will include Sonus NBS-9000 Network Border Switch for session border control and media transcoding along with the GSX 9000 High-Density Media Gateway (News - Alert), and the PSX Centralized Routing and Policy Server.
Mike Giobbi, CTO of Armstrong said, “We selected Sonus Networks because we wanted a solution from a single vendor that would provide immediate economic benefits and enable our infrastructure to deliver new voice services to our customers in the coming years. We wanted the option of migrating to PacketCable 2.0 while leveraging a common management platform. Sonus has the technology and stability we need to move our business forward and continue to exceed our customers' expectations.”
