By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

TelePacific announced that it received regulatory approval and completed the acquisition of the SMB customer base and various network assets of O1 communications (O1).

Apart from improved IP network assets, the new assets include O1's data center as well. According to TelePacific, the company secured 1,000 business customers in this period as well. The company is a competitive carrier that serves customers throughout California and Nevada.

Now, TelePacific owns a SAS (News - Alert) 70 Type II certified data center located in Sacramento, Calif. With this 18,500 sq. foot data center, the company can provide additional managed services to existing and new customers. TelePacific's increasingly robust network and product offerings are now enhanced with the addition of O1's SMB customers and network assets in Northern California, states TelePacific.

“We are pleased to welcome O1's SMB customers to the TelePacific family and look forward to introducing them to TelePacific's signature customer service," said Dick Jalkut, president and CEO of TelePacific, in a press release. "The additional resources we gained through this acquisition, including the data center and O1's state-of-the-art IP network, have enhanced our ability to serve our customers. The new TelePacific is poised for additional growth and well-positioned to expand our market share,” Jalkut added.

According to TelePacific, this acquisition puts the company as the number one competitor to AT&T and Verizon (News - Alert) for SMB customers within California. TelePacific continues to be privately-held and financial terms of the deal were not announced. The company offers various telecommunications services, including local, long distance, data networking, Internet access, integrated and other enhanced business services including mobile, managed security and business continuity, to SMB customers in California and Nevada

In August 2009, the company announced multiple upgrades to it 1Net IP VPN product. The company has integrated SmartVoice capability for making “triple play” of services available; added Outbound Internet Failover capabilities; introduced six Classes of Service Packages and added ADTRAN (News - Alert) NetVanta routers to the list of products that work seamlessly with 1Net, as part of the upgrades, the company stated.
