APconnections Offers Garmin GPS with NetEqualizers; Devices Prioritize VoIP

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

APconnections reportedly has announced that all customers purchasing NetEqualizers between Dec. 10 and Jan. 1 will automatically qualify for a free Garmin global positioning system, such as the nuvi 200, shown below.

GPS is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Lafayette, Colorado-based APconnections is a supplier of plug-and-play bandwidth shaping products. Beginning this month, customers purchasing a NetEqualizer NE2000-20 model and above receive a Garmin (News - Alert) nuvi 200.

In addition, all purchases of NetEqualizer models NE2000-10, NE2000-4, NE2000-2, or any NetEqualizer (News - Alert) Software Subscriptions, will also qualify for a complimentary Garmin eTrex H (Part Number: 010-00631-00), according to company officials.

Designed for voice and data networks, the NetEqualizer is a plug-n-play product which is deployed in large multi-national corporations, office complexes, universities, schools, and remote ISP’s.

NetEqualizer delegates bandwidth without administrators having to build and manage extensive policy libraries, said officials.

And, when the network is congested, NetEqualizer’s “behavior shaping” technology gives priority to latency-sensitive applications, such as VoIP and e-mail.

NetEqualizer provides bandwidth limiting features through fairness, favors bandwidth for Web browsing, chat and e-mail; host—supports up to 4000 individual hard limits; subnet; MAC address; Port; and virtual local area network (VLAN).

Garmin is a provider of general aviation and consumer GPS markets. Company’s products serve aviation, marine, outdoor recreation, automotive, wireless and OEM applications.

Earlier this month, company completed the acquisition of Sportmanship International AB, the distributor of Garmin’s consumer products in Sweden.

In November, APconnections announced a one-gigabit enhancement to their NetEqualizer brand traffic shapers.

In September, Comcast (News - Alert) implemented behavior-based traffic shaping techniques which were similar to the ones featured in APconnections’NetEqualizer.
