LightEdge, a hosted services provider dedicated to the communications and IT needs of SMBs,
reportedly has deployed
Acme Packet’s Net-Net session border controller.
The company is using Acme Packet (

BroadSoft’s BroadWorks VoIP application platform as well as
Microsoft Solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration.
Acme Packet SBCs are allowing LightEdge (

The SBC’s can enable seamless communications for LightEdge customers by mediating and controlling signaling flows between SIP phones and LightEdge service elements. This capability reduces interoperability issues, and leads to shorter service activation cycles and higher customer satisfaction.
By working in tandem with the BroadSoft (

This feature provides end users with the ability to initiate or receive VoIP calls simply by clicking a button on their desktop. The Acme Packet SBC can effectively manipulate SIP messages, and this allows LightEdge to offer click-to-call or other features that boost productivity and improve the business communications experience for LightEdge customers.
Jeff Springborn, president and chief operating officer at LightEdge, says he’s happy that Acme Packet’s SBCs enable them to address their customers’ expectations who want strong ease of use from their Hosted Unified Communications (

Acme Packet’s SBCs also give them the ability to offer a very high-quality integrated user experience.
Dino Di Palma, vice president of sales and business development at Acme Packet, said he sees a huge opportunity for increasing overall business efficiency through the integration of hosted voice with existing desktop applications.
“LightEdge’s use of our SBCs further validates the business benefits of supplementing basic VoIP and UC functions with advanced session border control,” Di Palma said.
