Peek Intros Unlimited Messaging Offering
By Vivek Naik, TMCnet Contributor
Peek has
reportedly introduced the Peek Pronto, a new mobile handheld texting and email device that is competitively priced and has a monthly usage rate for unlimited messaging.
Peek Pronto, pictured below, features a push e-mail service that always delivers and receives mails instantly in accordance with the Internet Messaging Access Protocol standard provided the device is kept electrically on. An application immediately sends the mail to a Mail User Agent (MUA) that in turn sends the mail to individual mailboxes once it has been received and recorded in the server. A single Peek Pronto allows a maximum of five individual email identities.
The advantage push e-mail has over regular Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) is that the MUA does not have to periodically send requests to check if new mail has arrived or not, it simply receives the mail immediately. This feature initially benefited marketing executives and company decision makers, but more recently it has been embraced by most consumers in general because of its convenience. TMC (

DeltaCom.
Peek Pronto’s alleged ability to read and send images and formats such as TIFF, JPEG and portable data files provides the user with the ability to exchange important media rich content on the fly and even read e-Books off the screen.
Its enhancements over previous product lines and software releases include a 50 percent faster rate of digital data delivery, a prompt email search and retrieval facility, compatibility with Microsoft (
