Broadstripe, LLC a provider of integrated video, broadband and home phone services has deployed Aurora Networks’ GEPON solution for its commercial services offering. Aurora Networks is an optical transport solution provider which delivers an optimized platform for next-generation cable services.

Aurora’ s GEPON solution includes Node PON, VHub and SMART Media Converter products which will help Broadstripe to offer faster services catering to the individual needs of business customers.

The GEPON solution provides a manageable and scalable system which enables Broadstripe to offer its business customers, fiber to the premises to meet bandwidth requirements within their footprint. It eliminates the need for an active OTN location, clarified the company.

“For Broadstripe’s commercial services offering, we set out to serve a combination of T1, high-speed and dial-up customers, including Brooks Industrial Park in Marshall, Michigan, an established business park,” said Dave Harwood, regional vice president and general manager of Broadstripe, in a statement. “With Aurora Networks’ GEPON solutions, we are the only provider able to offer 10-100 Mbps of dedicated fiber services to each of Brooks Industrial Park’s current customers.”

“With Aurora Networks, we can now take advantage of the huge growth opportunities available in business services by competitively delivering what customers are demanding,” Harwood added.

Aurora’s GEPON implementation includes installation of a virtual Hub (VHub) which is equipped with Node PON technology on Broadstripe’s fiber infrastructure from its main headend to Brooks Industrial Park located 40 miles away. Also new fiber was laid to the street side curb near each business location with a SMART Media Converter installed inside the premises for connecting business subscribers to Broadstripe’s core network.

John Dahlquist, vice president of marketing at Aurora Networks emphasized that Broadstripe’s implementation of Aurora Networks’ GEPON solution demonstrates the reach, flexibility and cost-effectiveness of the solution. It enables cable operators to easily migrate their existing infrastructure to accommodate business services.

He also said that the main focus of Aurora Networks was on the cable industry and all its resources were employed to enhance transport solutions offered to customers.

The GEPON solution optimizes revenue-generating services in residential and commercial deployments. The Node PON solution and VHub offer flexibility in the PON architecture and the SMART Media converter increases the bandwidth capacity making it suitable for high-speed data services as required by Broadstripe and other cable operators, revealed Aurora officials.
