Tata Communications Ltd., a provider of new world of communications, has announced the launch of its “Internet Clean Pipe Solution” for the small and medium business segments. With this solution, clean traffic is ensured through the elimination of malware, spam and viruses without the customer incurring capital expenditure on hardware.

This solution is the first of its kind to be offered by an Internet service provider (ISP) in India. Customer demand from the onset has been very encouraging and sales for the solution are anticipated to ramp up very quickly.

In addition to putting data security for an organization at risk, the traffic flows of the Internet contain traffic such as spyware, malware, worms, Trojans and viruses that choke the available bandwidth. The Internet Clean Pipe protects companies at the core-network layer.

This services uses a network-based all-in one Fortinet (News - Alert) Unified Threat Management device, which includes anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-spyware, intrusion prevention and Web filtering capabilities. With this program, Internet traffic is checked for vulnerabilities before it enters the customer’s premise. This helps to ensure optimal utilization of bandwidth purchased without any unwanted traffic.

The device also helps to eliminate the need for investment in security hardware and costs associated with maintenance and management. Customers are able to gain peace of mind and confidence that their bandwidth is being used for genuine purposes only.

The Internet Clean Pipe solution is available 24x7x365 and provides users with multiple bandwidth speed options backed by best-in-class Service Level Agreements (SLAs) guaranteeing better network uptime, zero latency and packet drop, among other advantages.

In early summer, Tata Communications announced it global alliance with New York-based interconnection and colocation data center operator Telx. The alliance was formed in an effort to leverage each company’s colocation space in their respective countries.

In August, the company partnered again with HyperOffice in order to offer the HyperOffice (News - Alert) online collaboration suite with high-speed data and voice tools that Tata Communications delivers to business subscribers in India and 200 other countries around the world.
