Wavelink Corporation has announced the availability of Wavelink Terminal Emulation 7.2 software for extending mission-critical applications to mobile workers.

The enhanced version has an improved user interface with additional voice features, scripting tools and wireless wide area network enhancements.

“As a pioneer in the industry, Wavelink built a large install base and a dominant market share in emulation technology,” said Mikkel Storm, Wavelink’s senior product manager. “We have maintained and grown our customer base by continually innovating and adding new features that provide ease of use and improve user productivity.”

Businesses will benefit from Wavelink which provides them automation solutions to improve productivity and efficiency. The company offers a complete client-side voice solution through Wavelink Speakeasy (News - Alert) which can access host-based applications. Businesses will be able to accept many input sources such as scanning, voice, RFID and keyboard entry.

Company sources said that the new features included in version 7.2 are a WYSIWYG Screen Reformatter which helps voice-enable text and input fields for redesigning the application user interface. The tool comes as a standalone product from ActiveSync or Motorola’s (News - Alert) Airbeam.

The advanced formatting features include double-height and double-width characters and also has better undo/redo handling. The enhanced script editor features a menu bar, tool bar and status bar in the user interface which makes navigation easy. A Script Editor Debugger helps locate potential errors and guides the administrator to the error besides providing detailed information on a build error message tab.

The WWAN support allows users to customize their host profiles to connect to a WWAN like cellular network when wireless LAN is not available and the connection will be automatically disconnected when all sessions have ended.

Wavelink Terminal Emulation has been deployed by more than 3 million clients in supply chain environments. The new version of the software is available as a free upgrade to existing customers with maintenance agreements, said company officials.

Wavelink provides multi-vendor mobile application development and mobile device and infrastructure management software. The technology helps in deploying, managing and controlling auto-ID data collection and RFID in addition to enhancing performance of frontline staff.
