NET, emFAST Complete Interoperability Testing of 'One Number Fax'

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Network Equipment Technologies, Inc.  a provider of network and VoIP solutions, and emFAST Inc. announced a new agreement and the completion of interoperability testing of NET’s (News - Alert) VX Series running “One Number Fax” with emFAST’s FACSys server. emFAST provides network fax messaging solutions.

This combination will provide a so-called comprehensive unified messaging solution which includes fax delivery for Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange Server 2007 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 users, company sources said.

NET’s VX Series switches provide a “One Number Fax” solution for the delivery of true vision of a single, unified phone number with automated fax delivery. The product is capable of detecting and operating voice and fax calls by CNG or fax tone detection and it automatically routes the calls to the proper destination without the phone ringing when faxes are delivered.

Also faxes are delivered directly to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Unified Messaging, Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Unified Messaging and to the FACSys Fax Server which enable organizations to round out their unified messaging implementations. The combined solution from the two companies will also give users the ability to manage their e-mails, voice mails, text and instant messaging besides managing fax messages from a single mailbox.

“We are very pleased to have a teaming agreement with NET. As a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, we worked closely with the Microsoft Exchange team to seamlessly integrate FACSys and fax messaging into the Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging framework,” said Frank Kaufman, president of emFAST (News - Alert).

“The solution we have jointly created with NET using the ‘One Number Fax’ feature of the VX Series further enhances this functionality by allowing a user to have a single phone number for both voice and fax,” added Kaufman.

Matthew D. Krueger, NET’s vice president of business development explained that ‘One Number Fax’ will provide users the capability to deliver a single, unified phone number with automated fax delivery solution. emFAST helps deliver practical benefits to organizations using Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010, optimizing unified communications implementations.

The sending and receiving of faxes via Microsoft Office applications increases employee productivity and reduces implementing costs and operational expenses of fax machines. It enhances security as it maintains an audit trail of fax messages. Fax can be integrated with multi-function peripherals like those from HP, Xerox, Sharp, Ricoh and Canon (News - Alert)
Company sources added that fax services can be integrated with enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management and other line-of-business applications.
