Nicaraguan Carrier Enitel to Deploy Arbinet's Wholesale Carrier Services

New Jersey-based Arbinet (News - Alert), a global voice and IP communications provider, has announced that its new wholesale Carrier Service interface will be leveraged by Nicaraguan PTT, Enitel for termination and origination of international calls.

While Enitel will be in a position to deliver high quality, lower cost international calling to its customers in Nicaragua, Arbinet will benefit from, high quality termination capacity in Nicaragua for its retail and wholesale customers.

Arbinet is a popular transaction platform where buying and selling of voice and IP telecommunications capacity takes place. Arbinet's voice termination and origination options encompass Private Exchange, an easy, low-risk outsourcing approach, and thexchange, the industry's leading Exchange marketplace for buying and selling voice communications.

Dan Powdermaker, Arbinet's senior vice president of Sales and Marketing, said that Central America is one of the fastest growing regions for telecom usage in the world.

“As the only truly integrated Nicaraguan telecom operator with the leading market share in mobile, a nationwide fixed network and the country's leading cable system, Enitel's partnership with Arbinet offers benefits to our customers and traffic for our suppliers,” Powdermaker said.

Enitel will also benefit from Arbinet’s Private Exchange service by aggregate existing interconnections and simplifying the management of its interconnections with its customer's networks. Private Exchange offers a range of benefits including improved circuit utilization, TDM/VoIP conversion, VoIP protocol support, increased network efficiency and lower back-office costs related to interconnections.

It also makes swap agreements and volume commitment deals easier through online reporting tools and automatic alerting.  Earlier this year, TMCnet reported that Arbinet has reduced the fees it charges to transport traffic on Private Exchange by up to 57 percent.

“As the leading fixed and mobile telecom carrier in Nicaragua, having the right international voice partner is critical for us to compete in our market and to give our retail customers the high-quality, cost effective international voice service they want,” Victor Garcia, chief of Regulatory and Interconnection of Enitel, said.
