Vodacom, South Africa’s cellular network and total communications provider for sub-Saharan Africa, reportedly has selected MeLLmo’s Roambi to provide its mobile workforce with real-time access and insight into company data via their iPhones.

MeLLmo flagship product Roambi, is an iPhone (News - Alert) application that makes business data and reports easy to access, navigate and interact with right from a handheld device.

In a release, MeLLmo officials said that by integrating Roambi into its operations, Vodacom executives are now able to access and interact with valuable business information, including performance network traffic, customer faults tracking, financial reports and infrastructure data directly and securely on their iPhones, without the need to access a PC or an Internet connection.

Company officials said that Vodacom began using the free Roambi Lite service in June, and after positive results in initial trials recently upgraded to the full-featured Roambi ES for deeper integration into its existing business intelligence system and reporting tools.

Roambi ES, which is designed specifically for the enterprise, is a secure and scalable server solution that allows companies to transform their business data and reports into interactive, visual analytics delivered to the iPhone.

“Roambi ES is a valuable tool that gives our executive team the flexibility to conduct business from anywhere,” said Johan Engelbrecht, managing executive, network management group, Vodacom South Africa, in the release.

Engelbrecht said that innovation and enhancing people’s lives are two core drivers at Vodacom, and Roambi helps the executive workforce stay ahead of the curve as the company continues to expand its telecommunications services in the African market.

“The proliferation of smartphones and touch screen devices has fundamentally transformed the workforce as we become increasingly connected in real-time,” said Santiago Becerra, CEO and co-founder of MeLLmo, Inc.

Becerra said that Roambi continues to gain momentum across a wide variety of IT departments that are using the iPhone as a business tool.

He said that Vodacom’s use of Roambi ES is an excellent example of how a major communications company is maximizing worker productivity by accessing critical information for on-the-go decision making.
