Acrobits Softphone Helps VoIP Providers Get on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Voice over Internet Protocol users often find it difficult to get the correct settings for their provider entered in their SIP client.

Unable to bear with this inconvenience, many users opt for providers that have their own softphone client on multiple platforms.

Mobile software developer Acrobits has now added a new feature, called provider provisioning, to its Acrobits Softphone, a SIP Client for the iPhone (News - Alert), iPad and iPod Touch.

With this new feature, Acrobits helps VoIP operators provide their customers with a proven SIP client on the App Store and an easy way to use their service on the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

With the latest provider provisioning feature, any SIP-based VoIP operator can have their settings added to Acrobits Softphone's preconfigured provider list completely free.

"Since the iPhone OS is the leading mobile platform, having a reliable SIP client on Apple's (News - Alert) App Store is an important component to attracting new business, company officials said.

With the addition of Apple to their list of preconfigured providers, VoIP operators can enable their customers to use their service on Apple products with much ease.

Once Acrobits has added a provider to their preconfigured list, most customers will only have to enter their username and password to get started using their service on Acrobits Softphone. There is a separate list of providers for every country and the providers can choose the countries in which they want to appear.

To give fair conditions to the providers and the best value to customers, the list is ordered by popularity. "The more customers you have that use the Softphone, the higher you will appear on the list," the company said.

With this new service, Acrobits Softphone has become the best way for providers to extend their service to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, company officials said.

Earlier in May Acrobits announced that Aptela (News - Alert), a provider of business-class phone services to small businesses and mobile workers throughout the country, has added the Acrobits Softphone to its AnywhereSM Apps mobility suite, TMCnet reported.
