Eurosatory is a defense industry trade show held every two years in Paris. It is organized in conjunction with the French Ministry of Defense. Global industry leaders and experts in the defense and security sectors attend the show.

Elektrobit Corporation, a developer of cutting-edge embedded technology solutions for automotive and wireless industries, has added two more new VoIP phones to its EB Tough VoIP product portfolio.

The EB Tough VoIP Field Phone (News - Alert) and EB Tough VoIP Desktop Phone were introduced at Eurosatory 2010 in Paris. The phones are sturdy and rugged and are expected to increase the ability of militaries to communicate and bring broadband data to the field, vehicles and command posts.

Both the phones can be seamlessly integrated to the existing communications infrastructure. Because of their rugged design, they can provide reliable VoIP services even in the most demanding conditions. This particular feature is ideal in military conditions and harsh environments. Users now have at their disposal new and improved operational capabilities.

The phones can meet different customer-specific requirements as the rugged cutting-edge products are flexible in nature. The EB Tough VoIP Field Phone is equipped with an integrated speaker, Ethernet and SHDSL connectivity, and enables several innovative applications.

Some of the other features that are included are greater levels of voice and broadband services in the filed, streaming video, maps, real-time data, situational awareness and local Ethernet connection for other devices.

The EB Tough VoIP Desktop Phone is equipped with an integrated speaker and Ethernet connectivity. It has features such as voice services for command post and vehicular use, and can be wall-mounted in vehicles.

'Understanding the importance for militaries to utilize broadband services over existing communications infrastructure, we designed these new phones in order to meet those demands and strengthen operational capability,' said Mikko Viitaniemi, senior manager, Wireless Solutions, EB, in a release.

Viitaniemi added that these products served to emphasize EB's ability not only to develop robust products for the defense industry, but also its capacity to engineer the most dynamic solution that promote next gen communication for the military.

EB develops advanced technology and transforms it into enriching end user experiences. It specializes in demanding embedded software and hardware solutions for the automotive industry and wireless technologies.

Its technical core competences are in automotive-grade software, wireless technologies, solutions and system and software architecture.

In related news, EB announced the availability of NAVTEQ (News - Alert) Traffic for HD Radio Systems as part of its EB street director navigation software offering. The high capacity of HD Radio technology will also allow NAVTEQ to deliver up-to-the minute dynamic content to consumers when and where they need it most.
