Adder Ships New KVM-over-IP Solution

Adder has begun shipping its new AdderLink ipeps (IP Engine per Server) KVM (keyboard, video mouse)-over IP solution to its network of North American resellers and distributors.

AdderLink ipeps  is a global computer management solution that allows system administrators to securely access computers from anywhere in the world via the Internet or a corporate network. This unique solution provides each computer with a dedicated KVM-over-IP engine.

Adder said the palm-sized unit can be rack mounted and requires no additional power other than that provided by the PS/2 or USB keyboard and interface. AdderLink ipeps
leverages Adventiq’s on-chip KVM-over-IP technology. By using highly efficient, adaptive compression algorithms and innovative video processing techniques Adventiq’s silicon solution gives a significantly improved user experience over a wide range of network bandwidths.

The company further explains that AdderLink ipeps provides full control of the connected server down to BIOS level following unexpected computer crashes or intentional restarts. Combined with the ADDER.NET enterprise management software,
AdderLink ipeps offers a non-blocking, multi-user, point-to-point KVM over IP solution with a centralized and secure management interface. In addition to providing secure single-click access to any authorized device, ADDER.NET provides an activity log for security and historical information.

“The shipment of AdderLink ipeps marks a milestone for Adder as a company, as well as for the IT world,” said Richard Cawdery Adder’s product manager in a statement.

“This product has really miniaturized KVM-over-IP. System administrators now have a secure, remote management solution that doesn’t compromise performance, security or resources,” he added.

The product also delivers unmatched security through several features. AdderLink ipeps delivers enterprise grade security as standard and is further enhanced by the optional use of RealVNC. This allows for the creation of ciphered user communications, providing a higher level of security than using a web-browser based client.

The RealVNC application can be used on any client machine, anywhere in the world by running a Java version which is hosted on the ipeps device itself. Thanks to the addition of RealVNC, users can enjoy enhanced video performance that delivers clarity and eliminates latency which often occurs when driving heavy bandwidth applications over IP. Up to 16 user profiles can be created with defined user access rights.

“We are particularly proud of the easy method employed by ipeps for virtual media mapping, eliminating many of the difficulties common to virtual media devices,” said Cawdery.

Adder is a developer of KVM technology and extenders. Adder’s family of KVM switches, extenders and IP solutions enable the control of local, remote and global IT systems.

What’s the best resource to learn about latest trends in the IP communications industry? Why, INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO, of course. ITEXPO West 2007 is just around the corner—this year it’s being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California, Sept. 10-12.
