Crossbeam Systems, a provider of next-generation security platforms for high-performance networks, has stated that NTT Communications’ (NTT Com) data centers are now equipped with their X-Series security platform.

The company has claimed that the Crossbeam (News - Alert) X-Series integrates superior network processing with exceptional application processing on an open architecture, which means users get to choose best-in-class applications to run on the platform to maximize their security.

The X-Series allows enterprises and service providers to consolidate network infrastructure and appliances supporting security applications. It dramatically simplifies deployment and on-going management. The net effect is that users can consolidate 50:1 devices in the network, which means fewer devices to manage, a smaller footprint in the data center and a lower cost of ownership. 

NTT (News - Alert) Com explained that they selected Crossbeam because it delivers the scalable, high-performance security architecture required to support NTT Com’s initiative for the integration and consolidation of its internal information and communication technologies (ICT) infrastructure. 

Senior Manager of Network Grand Design Office at Network Business Division of NTT Com, Yoshinori Ando, stated that reducing the cost and complexity of running their data centers without compromising business and security requirements is a top priority at NTT Com. Crossbeam met all their requirements while providing the security foundation they need to support a high-performance, cloud computing environment that can keep pace with system changes and the business. 

NTT Com’s Tatsuya Inada added that they are able to virtually provision multiple security applications from single chassis and share infrastructure resources, greatly consolidating their ICT infrastructure while keeping operating and management costs down with Crossbeam.  

Since deploying the X-Series in January, NTT Com has acknowledged that it has been able to cut the number of network security devices by more than half, resulting in a simpler, better performing security infrastructure.
