Embotics' V-Commander 3.7 Brings Control to Virtual Machine Lifecycle

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Offering a complete suite of capabilities to manage virtual infrastructures and private clouds, Embotics Corporation has introduced V-Commander 3.7.

Embotics’ V-Commander 3.7 provides rich functionality for the complete management and control of virtual machines over their entire lifecycle apart from delivering broad virtualization management capabilities. Embotics’ V-Commander 3.7 presents lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and the ability to manage an organization’s virtual infrastructure through a “single pane of glass,” with the capability to scale to thousands of VMs.

V-Commander actively reduces complexity within the data center environment and decreases operational costs. To ensure that virtual environments are optimized for growth, Embotics Corporation provides enterprises with a virtualization management system that offers all the necessary components.

“Our vision has always been that IT organizations would need an integrated and scalable single platform to manage their dynamic data center and cloud computing environments,” said Jay Litkey, CEO and president of Embotics. “And as we’ve seen our customers adopting cloud-based architectures and moving towards IT-as-a-service delivery models, we remain convinced our vision is correct. With Version 3.7 of V-Commander, we are delivering a complete management solution”

V-Commander’s integrated suite delivers policy-driven automation throughout its entire lifecycle from the initial Change Request (RFC) for VMs to their eventual decommissioning. Throughout its entire lifecycle, V-Commander’s integrated suite delivers policy-driven automation which includes automated remediation of non-compliant VMs, driven by flexible user-defined business policies; framework integration with vSphere, VMware’s infrastructure client, enhanced capacity and performance management capabilities; and customizable Self-Service VM request forms.

In August 2009, the company announced a partnership agreement with Austin, Texas-based Surgient, a company that provides self-service provisioning for dynamic data centers. The companies said that together they are offering enterprises complete lifecycle management and self-service provisioning of virtual environments. Embotics’ V-Commander provides a combination of enterprise-level insight, control, automation and integration. It provides the much-needed governance and control and minimizes corporate risk.
