Eaton's Power Xpert Meter 2000 Aids Measuring, Monitoring and Managing Power Quality in Facilities

By Jyothi Mahalingham, TMCnet Contributor

Eaton Corporation (News - Alert), a power management company, recently announced the introduction of Power Xpert Meter 2000, a sleek, sophisticated power quality meter range with power measuring facilities and included data examining potentials.

The Power Xpert Meter series is capable of recognizing details such as tendency of power fluctuations, circuit load monitoring and distribution and calculation of surplus power utilization to assist IT system administrators, power quality testing engineers and facility managers.

The Power Xpert Meter 2000’s features include graphical viewing, and data “slewing” to evaluate current performance. Implanting or connecting of the meters with a web server allows the companies to concurrently monitor and assess the requirement and the pattern of demand and other acoustics from any location utilizing a normal web browser.

“As operating costs continue to increase, there is constant pressure to reduce those day-to-day expenses, decrease power utilization; thereby improving overall operating efficiency—but you can’t manage what you can’t measure,” said Dwayne McGrody, product manager, Eaton’s Software and Meters Business Unit. “As an ideal energy management solution, the Power Xpert Meter 2000 measures, trends and analyzes complex power data in a graphical interface that is easy to understand for users at any level of power expertise.”

The Poweer Xpert Meter 2000 series from Eaton Corporation is available in Xpert 2250, 2260 and 2270 types with three kinds of optional features.

The Xpert 2250 is a basic unit that is complete with power consumption, quality monitoring and data acquiring functions. This unit is provided with LAN connections and inbuilt gateway access. The Xpert 2260 includes the existing features of 2250, in addition to a built-in facility to observe total harmonic distortion and set the required restrictions for the onboard meter. The Power Xpert 2270 Meter comprises all the prominent characteristics of 2250 and 2260. It also offers built-in to supervise individual harmonics and view graphical illustrations through a desk top PC connected to an inbuilt web server facilitating maximum storage space for data sorting.

“With a spotlight on federal regulations and tax incentives for power conservation, it is essential to fully understand the quality of the power that is delivered throughout a facility,” said McGrody. He added “The Power Xpert Meter 2000 gives users an extensive amount of power data at their fingertips, helping them benchmark energy usage and reduce costs, such as peak demand charges and power factor penalties.”
