CloudSwitch Named 'Cool Vendor' by Gartner

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

CloudSwitch, Inc. has been included in the list of "Cool Vendors" in the Cloud Management report by Gartner (News - Alert), Inc.

Officials with CloudSwitch said that its software bridges the enterprise data center with cloud computing services, extending enterprise security and control into the cloud.

Company officials said that with CloudSwitch, existing applications can be moved to the cloud with point-and-click simplicity and no modifications, remaining tightly integrated with enterprise data center tools and policies.

According to the "Cool Vendors" report, "Gartner's 2010 CIO survey identified cloud computing as the number two strategic technology investment for CIOs globally."

The survey notes that "established vendors in IT operations management have yet to deliver innovation in the cloud-computing management area."

"We are pleased to be recognized by Gartner as innovative, impactful and intriguing," said John McEleney, CEO at CloudSwitch, in a statement.

McEleney said that the company is at the forefront of enterprise adoption of the cloud, and excited to be working with many market-leading companies as they move their first workloads into the cloud and plan their cloud strategies, leveraging CloudSwitch to make the cloud a secure extension of their internal data centers.

CloudSwitch delivers the enterprise gateway to the cloud. CloudSwitch says that its software appliance enables enterprises to move their existing applications to the right cloud computing environment -- securely, simply and without changes.

Back in March CloudSwitch had announced that it has launched its beta program for CloudSwitch Explorer. For the first time, enterprises can move existing, multi-tiered applications to the Amazon EC2 cloud with point-and-click simplicity and no modifications.

CloudSwitch's software bridges the enterprise data center with cloud computing services, extending enterprise security and control into the cloud. With CloudSwitch, applications remain tightly integrated with enterprise data center tools and policies, and are managed as if they were running locally.

CloudSwitch Explorer is a free, downloadable software appliance that installs easily into VMware environments. It supports a single user and up to five Windows and Linux virtual machines in the Amazon EC2 cloud.
