In today's volatile market situation, the network administrators look for the solution that would help optimize productivity and maintain full network integrity, but without stretching the bottom line. With D-Link's new xStack Chassis Series, industry gets a powerful, yet affordable series of solutions for core-to-edge applications in mid-to large enterprise network environments.
With its xStack Chassis Series of enterprise-class network switches (DGS-8000), D-Link (News - Alert) enters the Chassis market for the first time. The xStack Chassis Series is designed to deliver high performance, energy-efficiency, scalability, maximum security, modular resiliency and high-availability (HA). These features can be found only in more expensive competitive products, but D-Link offers them for a competitive price.
"Offering multilayer 10-Gigabit connectivity, Power over Ethernet, dual-active load sharing redundancy, flexible modular design and more, the Chassis series is the ideal choice as the core switch in medium enterprise networks, as the distribution switch in mid-to-large enterprises or as a future-proof wiring closet in the largest network environments," Alex Lin, director of product line management, switching and security, D-Link, said.
The key high-availability features in xStack Chassis Series include:
Up to 160 gigabits per second full duplex line rate performance per slot, boosting speeds by as much as two, three or four times the competing solutions
An array of flexible modules with capacities up to 48 Gigabit ports, including PoE, allowing customers to expand and configure their network to meet their specific needs
Eight-port 10G SFP plus modules with capacities up to 64 10G to offer customers their choice of interfaces
All new IO modules support Distributed Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and IP Flow Information Exchange (IPFIX) without the need to have dedicated modules
To keep with its commitment toward energy efficiency, D-Link integrates several new power-saving features in xStack Chassis Series as part of the D-Link Green program.
These are:
A more robust power supply that monitors energy consumption
Automatic fan speed adjustment
Temperature display and alarm functions
Power management and monitoring functions allowing automatic power on/off control for enterprise and carrier line cards.
According to Lin, new xStack Chassis Series efficiently meet with the demands of today's business environment.
"In today's economy, value-conscious IT managers and network administrators are looking to minimize their total cost of ownership, optimize productivity and maintain full network integrity -- without stretching the bottom line. D-link has responded to those needs by introducing the new xStack Chassis Series, which represents our largest and most powerful switching solutions."
