Vyatta (News - Alert), a leader in open networking and network virtualization, has announced that its virtual routing and security software has been selected as the foundation network level of NEC (News - Alert) Networks & System Integration Corporation's (NESIC) Consolidated Network Services (CNS). The CNS combines high-performance x86 servers, a VMware virtualization platform, and network virtual appliances from Vyatta, Citrix and Checkpoint to deliver best-of-breed networking solutions on a single virtual server.

In a release, Yasuo Iijima, senior VP and Member of the Board of NESIC said, 'With nearly every enterprise around the world under pressure to reduce costs, our Consolidated Network Services introduces a new approach that ensures long-term scalability and eliminates the need to buy multiple, single-purpose hardware devices.
