John Graham, vice president of Business Development at Solutions360 took the time to respond to a series of questions I posed to him regarding Solutions360, the IP

communications market, hosted solutions, and the company’s presence at the upcoming Internet Telephony (
News -
Alert) Conference & EXPO, which is taking place in Miami Beach, January 23–25.
RT: What has been your company’s biggest achievement in 2007?
JG: Solutions360 made significant inroads into the Technology Integrator marketplace in 2007. Addressing the marketplace for the past eight years, S360 renewed its concentration on the specific needs of this market segment. As a result, S360 was successful in attracting top performing customers in their vertical markets.
RT: What can we expect to see from your company in 2008?
JG: A solution for technology integration companies that can put an end to orphan tools and help run the entire business — from lead generation to order management to dispatch to accounting. Many companies today use disconnected point solutions to run their business. Products such as Excel, independent or home grown software solutions do not have the ability to effectively talk to each other. They can’t effectively manage work and exceptions that occur in the regular course of business. Integration is often used to bridge packages, but they are poor at seamlessly managing work, or notifying each other of problems, escalations or multi-directional updating. Being a historian of what happened doesn’t allow you to effectively grow your business when positioned against a competitor who is managing by dashboard, real-time events. A truly integrated solution allows you to maintain your nimbleness throughout your growth.
RT: How do you see the communications market evolving?
JG: We are a software company that develops software for the technology integration industry. We see all companies challenged by business growth and business continuity. To achieve these goals you can grow organically or through acquisitions. Without proper business processes in place either tactic is tough to do. Organic growth requires efficiency within your business. Acquisition requires proper execution of assimilation. With proper business processes in place, both strategies are achievable for business growth and scalability.
RT: Are you growing more quickly in the U.S. or abroad?
JG: The U.S. has always been an important market for us and we will continue to focus our efforts there in 2008.
RT: Is open source software changing your corporate strategy?
JG: We believe that business process enables people, not technology. So whether it’s open source or another flavor, what is important is the process and what you need to do in your business to manage it and grow. Because our software is flexible and scalable, our customers come to us to help them manage their business and they can have it and use it in whatever format suits their business needs.
RT: How about hosted solutions?
JG: Hosted solutions or managed services are a win/win for customers and technology companies. With the right business process management tools, you can eliminate the step of having your client call you to place a change order after the fact because you are monitoring your customer’s systems and you are making the call to move forward before they call you. We hope more businesses move in this direction.
RT: What will attendees see in your booth at ITEXPO (News - Alert) this month?
JG: A software solution to manage the growth of their business.
RT: What sorts of companies should come to your exhibit?
JG: Any technology integration company that is struggling with triage, dispatch, project management or implementing managed services should come and visit us. We help companies innovate the processes within their business for maximum profitability. Our software, Q360, helps technology integration companies optimize the work within their business.
