A gigantic hotel company selected an Andover, Massachusetts based group that provides hosting and application solutions to oversee its managed messaging and collaborative infrastructure services.

Hyatt Hotel & Resorts selected NaviSite (News - Alert) Inc. because of what that company calls its “deep expertise” in managed messaging and collaboration needs. Under the contract, NaviSite officials say, the company will upgrade and streamline Hyatt’s messaging systems for Group Wise and Lotus Domino.

Cliff Tamplin, the vice president of information technology for Hyatt – a company that operates more than 700 resorts and hotels in 45 countries – said strong management of the technologies is key to operations and growth.

“We were impressed with NaviSite’s dedication to designing a flexible solution for the platform that enabled our user groups to operate effectively and efficiently,” Tamplin said. “That combined with the operational and customer support we needed made NaviSite the choice to manage our enterprise messaging systems.”

NaviSite is charged with designing and putting into place a solution that centralizes and unifies the e-mail messaging platform providing high availability, backups, data retention, instant messaging, self service and global address books, according to the companies. In addition to the global management of iNotes, Lotus Notes and Lotus Sametime, NaviSite is providing Hyatt with a Lotus Domino solution supported by a messaging team with technical support.

According to Mark Clayman, NaviSite’s senior vice president of hosting services, the company will embrace a chance to help Hyatt improve its centralized managed messaging platform.

“As one of the leading hotel chains in the world, it’s important that Hyatt’s stakeholders are empowered with a flexible, secure and scalable messaging platform that meets their changing and immediate needs,” Clayman said.

NaviSite officials say that with more than 100 enterprises relying on their so-called “Managed Messaging” solutions, the company offers complete services for both Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange and Lotus Domino. Officials from NaviSite also say the company provides installation, configuration and round-the-clock monitoring of the messaging solution, including hardware, operating system and application software in a fully hosted environment.
