RAD Data Communications Names New President

By Susan J. Campbell

RAD Data Communications (News - Alert), an international manufacturer of telecommunications access equipment, has named Uri Zilberman, a 13-year veteran of the company, as president of the company’s U.S. subsidiary.

Zilberman has been considered an instrumental player in driving RAD’s U.S. sales for the past decade, according to the company. He also has extensive experience in understanding the needs of service providers and enterprises, as well as the phenomenon behind the ever-increasing demand for greater bandwidth that is driving their strategies and equipment purchases, company officials say.

With a successful RAD career that started with the international headquarters as a product manager in the mid-1990s, Zilberman has continued with a similar assignment at RAD Data Communications (News - Alert) Inc., according to the company. He went on to become the president of RADirect, RAD’s North American online sales branch in 2000, company officials say.

While the economy is currently experiencing a downturn and other weaknesses, Zilberman remains optimistic that RAD Data Communications Inc. will continue its strong growth, according to the company.

“As a private company with a long record of growth and profitability, RAD is very well positioned to gain market share,” Zilberman said. “In economic downturns, companies often think too much in the short term and make cuts that prohibit them from taking advantage of market opportunities. We have always focused, and will continue to focus, on the long term, and we believe that will play in our favor.”

Efraim Wachtel, president and chief executive officer of RAD Data Communications, welcomed Zilberman’s new role at RAD Inc. saying, “Uri Zilberman has done an outstanding job in all his previous positions at RAD, and we are confident that in this new position, he will not only continue, but enhance, the growth we have enjoyed for the last several years.”

Zilberman has both an MBA and a degree in computer science and economics from Tel Aviv University in Israel, company officials say.

RAD Data Communications is a privately owned company that has achieved international recognition as a major manufacturer of high quality access equipment for data communications and telecommunications applications.

These solutions are designed to serve the data and voice access requirements of service providers, incumbent and new carriers and enterprise networks through the reduction of infrastructure investment costs and boosting competitiveness and profitability.
