Yesterday, TMC tallied the October traffic stats for our portal, and we’re pleased to say that the trend is not just positive, but it’s accelerating – both in absolute and relative terms. Interest in smart grid continues to ramp up, and as President Barack Obama’s stimulus funding announcements become mainstream news items, activity on our portal is buzzing.
I only have two numbers to share with you, but they validate this trend loud and clear.
- Total number of page views for October 582,526
- Total number of unique visitors for October 183,676
For the month of October, this translates into 18, 791 page views every day and 247 unique visitors every hour. With only three months of traffic stats, we’re happy to see the portal get to these levels in so little time. I think the numbers tell the story, and that the portal is sustaining a critical mass of activity that should be of interest to anyone trying to reach the smart grid market.
Not only have the October numbers been strong on their own, but relative to the first two months, the trend is solidly upward:
- Total page views for October are up 54 percent from September, and 82 percent from August;
- Similarly, unique visitors are up 90 percent from September, and 127 percent from August;
- In absolute terms, the portal has added 262,640 new page views from September;
- For unique visitors, we had 87,041 more from September, which works out to an additional 2,808 unique visitors in October that were not there the month before.
While we cannot predict the future, I’m optimistic enough to say that we’re on track to hit 1 million page views and 400,000 unique visitors by year end. We would certainly hit these marks even if our growth rates ease off, and if they continue to increase, the portal traffic will be well beyond those metrics.
Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves here, but I think we’re quickly establishing the portal as the industry’s leading destination for smart grid news and thought leadership. We’re continuing to expand our efforts to make that a reality, and I’m already looking forward to November’s portal traffic updates.
