It's been a very intense couple of days both at my end and TMC's (News - Alert), as we go public with the program for our next Smart Grid Summit. If you've been following the portal, you'll know we've been working on things for a while. Events like this need lots of lead time, and October will be here before you know it. The next summit will be an order of magnitude larger than the last one, which in turn was much bigger than our launch event. Smart grid is exploding, and we believe our timing is good for an event that brings the worlds of energy, telecom and IT together in one unique event.
The program was announced this afternoon, and you can read the details in the press release here. It's only May, but we have a healthy lineup of event sponsors, and a very strong program in place already. Companies who will be speaking include Verizon Business, Alvarion, Aviat (News - Alert) Networks, Nokia Siemens Networks, Alcatel Lucent, GridPoint, Echelon, Sierra Wireless, Synapse Wireless, Enernex, ADTRAN, Nuance, Areva T&D, Battelle, BPL Global, iControl Networks, USNAP Alliance, Tropos Networks (News - Alert) and DLA Piper. Many more are coming - including utilities - and it won't be long before the program is totally full.
Aside from the high caliber of companies presenting, we have a two-track program designed to cover both the smart grid and smart home spaces. The agenda has now been posted to the Smart Grid Summit website, which lists the dates and times of the sessions, as well as the confirmed speakers and a synopsis of each topic.
Of special interest will be our Crystal Ball Session, a double-length roundtable that will close out the summit. We'll also be presenting highlights of market opportunity study on renewable energy, which will be an exclusive for the summit, and attendees will get a complimentary top line summary.
Lots more to come and the main message for today is that the summit has launched and it's going to be good. We hope you start making plans now to join us and to keep on top of our news, I would urge you to subscribe to our Smart Grid eNewsletter - one click, a few keystrokes, and you're done.Jon Arnold (News - Alert) is co-founder of Intelligent Communications Partners (ICP), a strategic advisory consultancy focused on the emerging Smart Grid opportunity.
