A prestigious United States military academy has deployed Telkonet’s (News - Alert) network-enabled energy-saving technology. Telkone will provide the SmartEnergy platform in academy residence halls under a contract of $226,000, the company announced.
Offering intelligent networked thermostats, occupancy sensors, and door contacts, Telkonet will install a network-enabled SmartEnergy energy management system. Allowing the military academy to monitor and control each in-room HVAC system remotely, the online management platform is an integral component of the solution. While ensuring that the thousands of cadets attending the academy remain comfortable when occupying their rooms, the SmartEnergy system, which employs Telkonet's patented Recovery Time technology, will also optimize energy savings in unoccupied rooms.
Jason Tienor, Telkonet CEO, said, "We're excited to continue demonstrating the substantial energy savings that Telkonet's SmartEnergy Suite can provide in residence hall applications. This particular deployment displays the flexibility of our field services division as well as the design flexibility of our technology. We're honored to have been selected for this project and look forward to working with the academy. We're pleased to have been selected to perform this upgrade as part of our strategic partnership.”
Academy administrators have been unable to avoid excessive heating and cooling of unoccupied residence halls to date. While minimizing energy consumption, the SmartEnergy system will improve local control and give the property management team the capability to monitor the health and efficiency of the HVAC systems themselves, the company stated in a press release.
In October 2010, the company announced that it has been selected as a master agent to provide wireless Internet access services to AmericInn hotels. The company operates a large hospitality high-speed Internet access or HSIA network in the United States. Telkonet’s EthoStream Hospitality Network was selected owing to its successful network deployments in several corporate managed and franchised locations over the past five years.
