Coalition Military Contingency Gathers around Land Electronic Warfare Conference
ALEXANDRIA, Va. --(Business Wire)--
The Association of Old Crows (AOC) teams up with the United
States Marine Corps (USMC) in Quantico, VA, for The
Land Electronic Warfare (EW) Conference, December 11-13, 2012.
It is becoming apparent that the manipulation of the electromagnetic
spectrum (EMS) through a variety of toolsets, will dictate the actions
of commanders in the 21st century. Whether monitoring a ground radar, or
leading from an operations center, the increased attention revolving
around "Cyberspace" and activities associated with the information
environment are warranted given their ability to manipulate a
commander's perception of the battlefield. Therefore, sessions and
demonstrations presented provide evidence of how the U.S. and Coalition
forces are implementing technology and changing organizational paradigms
in order to exploit the EMS and the information environment from
a land component perspective.
Opening the first day is a keynote speech from Brigadier
General William F. Roy, Deputy Director of Operations, Readiness and
Mobilization, Headquarters Department of the Army. Following are service
presentations on U.S. Army EW and their support to current
operations and future vision, EW collaborative environment, and CREW
Sustainment and Integration into Service EMS Operations. Sessions on Day
2 focus on a joint perspective comprising of representatives from each
of the service branches, in addition to presentations from Brigadier
General Richard J. Evans from U.S. Strategic Command J3E, and CEO of
Dispersive Solutions Inc., Robert
Twitchell. The final day addresses EW concerns from the USMC and the Royal
Marines. USMC Deputy Commandant for Combat Development &
Integration, Lieutenant
General Richard P. Mills, will discuss Marine Air-Ground Task Force
(MAGTF) EW Systems Information. Royal Marine Corps representatives
speaking on coalition Land EW efforts include Lieutenant Colonel Jonny
Hill, Lieutenant Colonel Middleton, and Major Robert Thorpe.
Held on a Department of Defense (DoD) facility, this three day
conference at the General
Alfred M. Gray Marine Corps Research Center is restricted to "4
Eyes" attendees (United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, & U.S.). The
conference closes with an out-brief from the Land EW USMC co-sponsor
leadership plus remarks focusing on continued collaboration between the
integration Divisions to develop organic capability for the MAGTF and
the Joint Force.
The AOC is a not-for-profit international Electronic
Warfare/Information Operations (EW/IO) association which promotes
electromagnetic spectrum operations and related activities across
military, civilian and commercial applications.
